        CONGRATULATING  Geoffrey  M. Hicks, Ed.D. upon the
        occasion of  his  retirement  after  many  years  of
        distinguished service as an educator
 
  WHEREAS,  New  York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative  caliber  of  its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the  significant  milestones  in  the  distinguished  careers  of  those
outstanding  educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have
been instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and
 
  WHEREAS, This Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to  congratulate
Geoffrey  M. Hicks, Ed.D. upon the occasion of his retirement after many
years of distinguished service as an educator; and
 
  WHEREAS, Geoffrey M. Hicks began his long career in education  as  a
social studies teacher and taught 12 years at the middle and high school
levels  in  both the Belfast and Wellsville Central School Districts; he
was also the Technology Coordinator at Wellsville  for  four  years,  as
well as Interim Director of Pupil Personnel Services for one year; and
 
  WHEREAS,  For  the  next eight years, Geoffrey M. Hicks was a Middle
School Principal, first  at  Wellsville  and  then  Sweet  Home  Central
Schools before becoming Superintendent at Sweet Home, a position he held
for nine years; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This well-respected educator and administrator then served
as the Superintendent at Arlington Central Schools in Poughkeepsie,  New
York,  for  one  year before returning to Western New York to become the
Superintendent at Clarence Central Schools, the title from which he will
officially retire in 2021, after 10 years of superlative leadership; and
 
  WHEREAS, In addition to his wife  of  33-years,  the  late  Patricia
Hicks,  with  him  throughout  have  been their two children, Joshua and
Megan, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice
in his achievements; and
 
  WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Geoffrey Hicks  has  demonstrated  a
true passion for making a difference in the lives of children, inspiring
them to expand their horizons, be successful in the classroom, and reach
new heights in their future careers; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Furthermore,  Geoffrey  Hicks  has  proven himself to be a
dedicated educator and administrator who cares deeply for his  students,
faculty, staff and families who are part of the "Red Devils" family; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals  who  have  worked  to  support  our  proud
tradition  of  public education by providing their skills and talents to
our schools; now, therefore, be it
 
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate  Geoffrey  M.  Hicks,  Ed.D.  upon  the  occasion  of   his
retirement after many years of distinguished service as an educator, and
to  wish  him  continued  success in all his future endeavors; and be it
further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Geoffrey M. Hicks, Ed.D.
