HONORING Lillian M. Moy upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2021 Third Age
Achievement Award by Lifepath
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lillian M.
Moy upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2021 Third
Age Achievement Award by Lifepath, to be celebrated at its 25th Annual
Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 7, 2021, at Wolferts Roost Country Club,
Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Lifepath is dedicated to keeping older neighbors and
friends healthy and safe by providing effective programs and support to
help them stay connected to their communities; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age of their lives (after turning 60 years
old); Lillian M. Moy is truly deserving of this prestigious award; and
WHEREAS, Lillian M. Moy has been the Executive Director of the Legal
Aid Society of Northeastern New York since 1995; and
WHEREAS, A 1974 graduate of Hunter College of the City University of
New York, Lillian M. Moy went on to earn a degree from Boston University
School of Law in 1981; she is a member of the Board of Directors of the
Albany Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, Lillian M. Moy is a nationally recognized leader, writer,
and trainer in the civil legal aid community; with areas of expertise in
leadership development and diversity, she currently serves on the ABA's
Diversity and Inclusion Council and is Chair of the ABA's Coalition on
Racial and Ethnic Justice; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Lillian M. Moy is past Chair of the Civil Policy Group and a
past member of the Board of the National Legal Aid and Defender
Association; she serves on the New York State Bar Association's
President's Committee on Access to Justice, Committee on Legal Aid, and
Committee on Diversity and Inclusion; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this extraordinary woman is co-convener of the
New York Diversity Coalition, a group of legal services staff and
managers dedicated to raising and resolving diversity issues in the
legal aid community; and
WHEREAS, Lillian M. Moy has been the proud recipient of numerous
awards and accolades from countless organizations, including the
National Organization of Legal Services Workers, the Albany-Colonie
Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Asian American Bar Association of New
York, the Schenectady County Bar Association, the New York State Bar
Association, Albany County, and the Catholic Charities Housing Office;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, she was honored with the New York State Bar
Association's Diversity Trailblazer Award in 2013; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Lillian M. Moy has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lillian M. Moy upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2021 Third Age Achievement Award by Lifepath; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lillian M. Moy.
