recognizing Beth Gilles for her unwavering
dedication and boundless service to the members of
her community in her role as Director of the Lake
Champlain - Lake George Regional Planning Board

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
recognize Beth Gilles for her unwavering dedication and boundless
service to the members of her community in her role as Director of the
Lake Champlain - Lake George Regional Planning Board (LCLGRPB); and

WHEREAS, Beth Gilles, a native of Glens Falls, New York, and
graduate of Paul Smith's College and the University of Vermont, began
her work with the LCLGRPB in 2008, and was promoted to Director in 2018;
in her Director position, she built a robust water quality program,
branching out into new programs and funding streams for planning and
implementation efforts within the Lake Champlain and Upper Hudson River
Watersheds; and

WHEREAS, As Director, Beth Gilles oversees the operations of the
Regional Planning Board and its staff and works with the Board of
Directors to craft the direction of the RPB's programming; she works to
secure federal funding for both planning and implementation projects
throughout the region, as well as for the Regional Planning Board; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Beth Gilles, the Lake
Champlain - Lake George Regional Planning Board is this year's recipient
of the North Country Chamber of Commerce's Economic Development Partner
of the Year Award; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of 2021, the LCLGRPB, which represents five
counties - Essex, Clinton, Hamilton, Warren, and Washington, helped 209
businesses obtain over $3 million in loans, as well as using $5.1
million in grant funding to help communities throughout the COVID-19
pandemic; and

WHEREAS, Beth Gilles and the Regional Planning Board utilize local
economic development partners like the Chamber of Commerce and other
members of the community to prioritize the creation of new projects and
programs, always working to better their community; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her beloved husband, two
cherished kids; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure with the LCLGRPB, Beth Gilles earned the
admiration, esteem, and affection of her colleagues and fellow community
members; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize Beth Gilles for her unwavering dedication and boundless
service to the members of her community in her role as Director of the
Lake Champlain - Lake George Regional Planning Board; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Beth Gilles.
