Assembly Resolution No. 407

MOURNING the death of Peyton Lane S. Morse,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a generous and inspiring individual, who touched the lives of many; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that this Legislative Body
records the passing of Peyton Lane S. Morse, who died on March 12, 2021,
at the age of 21; and

WHEREAS, Peyton Lane S. Morse was born on May 3, 1999, in Watertown,
New York, to David M. Morse and Stacy L. Snyder-Morse; and

WHEREAS, In 2017, Peyton Lane S. Morse graduated from LaFargeville
Central School; on May 1, 2021, he will be awarded a bachelor's degree
from Siena College, where he mentored students as a resident advisor, as
well as served as a volunteer with the Shaker Road-Loudonville Fire
Department while attending college; and

WHEREAS, Peyton Lane S. Morse became engaged to the love of his
life, Celeste M. Oppito, of LaFargeville on September 27, 2020, and the
couple planned to wed on October 2, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Peyton Lane S. Morse and Celeste M. Oppito were joined in
marriage during a bedside ceremony on March 6, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Peyton Lane S. Morse worked on the Robinson Farm in
LaFargeville, as well as Watertown Savings Bank and Rusty Johnson
Masonry; and

WHEREAS, On February 1, 2021, Peyton Lane S. Morse began his "dream
job" as a City of Watertown Firefighter; and

WHEREAS, Community service was a cornerstone of Peyton Lane S.
Morse's life and he was involved in several local organizations that
were close to his heart, including St. John the Evangelist in
LaFargeville where he served as a communicant, Knights of Columbus, T.I.
Council-350 and the Clayton Franciscan Mystery Players; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Peyton Lane S. Morse served his community as a
member of the LaFargeville Volunteer Fire Department where, at the time
of his passing, he was the Assistant Fire Chief; and

WHEREAS, Peyton Lane S. Morse's generous nature extended beyond his
earthly life and by being an organ donor, he was able to save the lives
of three people after his passing; and

WHEREAS, Peyton Lane S. Morse lived life to the fullest and loved
the outdoors, wildlife, playing cards, traveling and of course, spending
time with his beloved family members and friends; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by his grandfather, Samuel Snyder Sr., Peyton
Lane S. Morse is survived by his wife; parents; brother, Parker S.
Morse; grandparents; aunts; uncles; and cousins; and

WHEREAS, Peyton Lane S. Morse leaves behind a legacy of generosity,
positivity, hard work and service that will long endure the passage of
time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and
befriended; he will be deeply missed and truly merits the tribute of
this Legislative Body; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Peyton Lane S. Morse, and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Peyton Lane S. Morse.
