MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
July 5-9, 2021, as Hall of Fame Appreciation Week in
the State of New York

WHEREAS, It is with noble admiration and pride that this Legislative
Body joyfully pays just recognition to those respected organizations and
individuals whose bravery, skill and quiescent dignity bring
extraordinary humanity to society; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to memorialize
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim July 5-9, 2021, as Hall of Fame
Appreciation Week in the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, If there ever was a hall of fame capitol, New York State
would be it; New York State is home to a wide variety of international
and national halls of fame; and

WHEREAS, The renowned shrine to our national pastime, the National
Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, lets you explore the
history of the game through a newly-renovated museum featuring
interactive exhibits, and the hallowed Hall of Fame Gallery, honoring
the game's greatest players; and

WHEREAS, From the diamond to the ring-boxing's rich heritage is
honored and preserved through displays of fascinating memorabilia at the
International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota; and

WHEREAS, The National Abolition Hall of Fame in Peterboro, New York,
honors antislavery abolitionists, their work to end slavery, and the
legacy of that struggle, and strives to complete the second and ongoing
abolition, the moral conviction to end racism; and

WHEREAS, All of these Hall of Fames and many more throughout the
great State of New York provide a tremendous service to constituents
from all over the state, providing residents with the ability to learn
about a wide array of subjects and the history behind these subjects;
and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, these Hall of Fames are struggling with the
ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and some are in danger of closing their doors;
these museums and Hall of Fames are historical monuments which should be
honored for their extraordinary and steadfast service to the countless
communities they serve; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim July 5-9, 2021, as Hall
of Fame Appreciation Week in the State of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New York.
