HONORING Town Administrator Steve V. Altieri upon
the occasion of his retirement after 39 years of
distinguished service to the Town of Mamaroneck

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Town Administrator Steve V. Altieri upon the occasion of his retirement
after 39 years of distinguished service to the Town of Mamaroneck; he
will officially retire in June of 2021; and

WHEREAS, Steve V. Altieri began serving the Town of Mamaroneck as
its first Administrator in 1982; and

WHEREAS, During his illustrious career, Steve V. Altieri had many
accomplishments; he was responsible for setting up the first Local
Waterfront Revitalization Program; from 1984-1986, he completed the
renovation of the Town Center; in 1989, he reconstructed the Hommocks
Ice Rink; and in 1994, he had the Hommocks Park Apartments built which
is affordable housing that replaced a motel as well as began the
recycling of plastics; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, in 2013, he was instrumental in having the
Energy Performance Contract completed before purchasing the Senior
Center in October of 2016, and building the Outdoor Swimming Pool
Complex; and

WHEREAS, Steve V. Altieri was and continues to be active in several
municipal organizations and community/non-profit groups: he is a former
President of the Larchmont Lions; has served for three years on the
Ethics Board of ICMA (International County Managers Association); is the
Board Chair and President of PERMA; Chair of Urban County Consortium
(Community Development Block Grant Program); a member of the County
Refuse Advisory Committee; a former President of City and State Managers
Association (New York State City/County Management Association,
Affiliate of ICMA); and is an Executive Committee Member of the
Westchester Municipal Officials Association (WMOA); and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 42 years, Debbie,
and their two sons, Christopher and Matthew, as well as their two
grandsons, Cole and Maverick, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and

WHEREAS, As Town Administrator, Steve V. Altieri rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Town of Mamaroneck; serving
with loyalty, honor and distinction, he was governed by a keen sense of
duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems, earning him the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Steve V. Altieri has led by example as a leading
practitioner of professional, nonpolitical, independent municipal
management, by which he has been an exemplar for good government
principles that have benefited the Town Of Mamaroneck, Westchester
County and New York State and whose outstanding service has solidified
this model in Mamaroneck for generations to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Steve V. Altieri upon the occasion of his retirement after 39
years of distinguished service, and to wish him well in all his future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Steve V. Altieri.
