MOURNING the death of Police Chief Kevin Arthur
Nulty, committed law enforcement officer, family man
and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a courageous and hardworking police officer who dedicated his purposeful
life and career in faithful service to both his family and the residents
of New York State; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of Orangetown Police Chief Kevin
Arthur Nulty who died on Monday, March 14, 2022, at the age of 68; and

WHEREAS, Born in the Bronx, New York, on December 15, 1953, Kevin
Arthur Nulty was the son of Virginia (Grubert) Nulty and Robert Nulty;
and

WHEREAS, Kevin Arthur Nulty grew up in Pearl River, New York, where
he graduated from St. Anthony's School and Albertus Magnus High School;
he went on to receive his bachelor's degree from SUNY Oneonta and his
master's degree from Long Island University C.W. Post; and

WHEREAS, A proud graduate of the 171st Session of the FBI National
Academy, Kevin Arthur Nulty was honored with the prestigious Frederick
D. Suydam Memorial Association Award in recognition of his
distinguished career in the public sector; and

WHEREAS, In January of 1976, Kevin Arthur Nulty began his
illustrious career with the Orangetown Police Department, where he
served the citizens of his community professionally, faithfully and
loyally for more than four decades; after serving as an Officer for over
21 years, he was promoted to Chief of the Department, the esteemed
position he held for over 22 years until his retirement in April of
2019; and

WHEREAS, Highly regarded and sincerely respected amongst his peers
and the residents he served and protected, Kevin Arthur Nulty was
well-versed in the law, well-spoken in all manners of communication, and
was a tough but fair police officer to all he encountered; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Arthur Nulty married the love of his life, Ann
Guerci, on October 27, 1979, at St. Margaret's Church in Pearl River,
New York; the couple shared a bond which was as rare as it was
beautiful; through good times and laughs, and through staggering
adversity and tragedy, they remained husband and wife, best friends,
partners in life and outstanding parents; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents, Kevin Arthur Nulty is survived
by his loving wife, Ann; three children, Grace (Doug), Matthew, and
Michael (Molly); three grandchildren, Connor, Charlie, and Ryan; and
extended family and friends, including his stepmother, Catherine Nulty,
and siblings Kathy, Robbie, Terence, Maura and Gina; and


WHEREAS, Kevin Arthur Nulty's infinite selflessness and benevolence
will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight
and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to
the countless lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Kevin Arthur Nulty leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will
be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Police Chief Kevin Arthur Nulty, and to express its
deepest condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Police Chief Kevin Arthur Nulty.
