COMMEMORATING the Dedication of the America 250
Patriot Marker by the Oneida Chapter of the National
Society Daughters of the American Revolution on May
17, 2022

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the
great State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good
works of those patriotic and civic-minded organizations and community
members who dedicate their lives to the service of others; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
Dedication of the America 250 Patriot Marker by the Oneida Chapter of
the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution; this
momentous event will be celebrated with a Ceremony on Tuesday, May 17,
2022, at the Oriskany Battlefield State Park in Oriskany, New York; and

WHEREAS, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
(NSDAR) is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service
organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American
history, and securing America's future through better education for
children; and

WHEREAS, The Oneida Chapter of the NSDAR was officially established
on June 19, 1893; the name "Oneida" was chosen to honor the Oneida
Indians who supported our patriotic cause during the American Revolution
and fought alongside our patriots at the Battle of Oriskany; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the noble men and women
who achieved American independence during the American Revolutionary War
and specifically at this site of the Battle of Oriskany on August 6,
1777, where our ancestors fought alongside their Oneida Indian allies;
and

WHEREAS, It is our duty as Americans to honor the memory, courage
and great sacrifice of those who fought during the Battle of Oriskany,
and to renew our Nation's sacred compact to ensure the United States of
America continues as a government of the people, by the people and for
the people; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity
to express its highest admiration for the Oneida Chapter of the NSDAR,
and for all of the individuals who have worked to bring proper attention
to a place and time which merits recognition in the grand panorama of
the history of our State and Nation; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the Dedication of the America 250 Patriot Marker by the
Oneida Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American
Revolution; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Oneida Chapter of the National Society Daughters of
the American Revolution.
