COMMENDING Chip Hayes upon the occasion of being
named the 2021 Veteran of the Year by the Rockland
County Veterans Coordinating Council

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peace time, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend those
who have served in times of active conflict, as well as those who have
served in times of peace; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Chip Hayes
upon the occasion of being named the 2021 Veteran of the Year by the
Rockland County Veterans Coordinating Council; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion was celebrated at a Ceremony on
Sunday, November 14, 2021, in front of the Allison-Parris Building in
New City, New York; and

WHEREAS, Chip Hayes proudly served his country as a member of the
United States Navy during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, Today, Chip Hayes is a vital member of his veteran
community and truly lives by the motto Semper Fortis Fidelis Ad Mortem;
In his post-service life, he has worked tirelessly to support his fellow
veterans and active duty troops through numerous organizations including
the American Legion, Marine Corps League, USS Saratoga Association, and
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 333, as well as the Army Judge
Advocate General's Corps (JAG); and

WHEREAS, In addition to his tireless efforts in supporting his
fellow veterans, Chip Hayes worked at the Law Offices of K.D. Rotherman,
P.C. and the NYPD; in support of these roles, he was an affiliate
member of the Rockland County Bar Association, Hudson Valley Bankruptcy
Attorneys Association, the Hudson Valley 10-13 Association, and the
Range Safety Office; and

WHEREAS, Chip Hayes is a shining example of the impact a person can
have when they selflessly serve their country and then go on to serve
their community; and

WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Chip Hayes upon the occasion of being named the 2021 Veteran of
the Year by the Rockland County Veterans Coordinating Council; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chip Hayes.
