CELEBRATING the accomplishments of Douglas X.
Alexander, President of Lions Club International

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
just tribute to those noble leaders whose commitment and dedication
contributed to neighborhood empowerment, community enrichment and the
entire State of New York; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved this day to honor the
tenacious career of Douglas X. Alexander, an eminent figure in the Lions
Club International; and

WHEREAS, New York State commends the association's devotion to
service and celebrates the esteemed commitment and hard work of Lions
Club International President Douglas X. Alexander, and thanks him for
his leadership and direction, which has been critical in impacting,
enriching, and empowering the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Douglas X. Alexander was born in Brooklyn and has been a
member of the Brooklyn Bedford Stuyvesant Lions Club since 1984; he was
elected to serve as international president of Lions Clubs International
at the association's 103rd International Convention in June of 2021; and

WHEREAS, Douglas X. Alexander has demonstrated dedication to the
association through his various roles, including club president, zone
chair, region chair, vice district governor, district governor, cabinet
secretary, cabinet treasurer and DGE group leader; and

WHEREAS, Douglas X. Alexander has also served as Lions Eye Bank
transporter, a member of the District and Multiple District PDG
Association, a trustee of the New York State and Bermuda Lions
Foundation, and was appointed as the Lions representative to the
UNICEF-New York from 2012-2015; he has also served on the USA/Canada
Lions Leadership Forum Planning and Host Committees; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of his service to the association, Douglas
X. Alexander has received numerous awards including the Club Lion of
the Year, Club President's Award, the Robert J. Uplinger Service Award,
several District Governor Appreciation Awards, and the Multiple District
Membership Growth Award; and

WHEREAS, Douglas X. Alexander is also the recipient of numerous
International President's Certificates of Appreciation, seven
International President's Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award,
the highest honor the association bestows upon its members; and

WHEREAS, Douglas X. Alexander is a Dr. Franklin G. Mason Fellow, a
W. P. Woods Fellow and a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his Lions activities, Douglas X. Alexander
is active in numerous professional and community organizations and has
served as chairperson of the advisory board for the New York Urban

League and as a board member of the St. Francis DeSales School for the
Deaf; he is also a recipient of the Congressional Record Award; and

WHEREAS, Douglas X. Alexander has two daughters and a partner in
service, Shabiki Cazabon, a Lion and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow;
and

WHEREAS, An inspiration to many, it is the intent of this
Legislative Body to honor the dedication and hard work of Douglas X.
Alexander; and

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the accomplishments of Douglas X. Alexander, dedicated
president of the Lions Club International and community influencer; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Douglas X. Alexander.
