COMMENDING the employees of the South Shore
University Hospital in recognition of their tireless
devotion and unwavering dedication in an effort to
combat COVID-19 in Suffolk County

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
those hospitals within the State of New York which provide outstanding
medical care and vital services to meet the healthcare needs of their
patients; and

WHEREAS, Our hospitals serve the vital purpose of providing for the
healthcare needs of our citizens through excellence in the delivery of
medical services; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the
employees of the South Shore University Hospital in recognition of their
tireless devotion and unwavering dedication in an effort to combat
COVID-19 in Suffolk County; and

WHEREAS, Hundreds of South Shore University Hospital workers hosted
a Day of Hope, a rally which was geared towards lifting the spirits of
emotionally drained staff who are working around the clock because of
the pandemic; and

WHEREAS, South Shore University Hospital is serving one of the
hardest hit areas on Long Island and currently has 280 patients they are
treating for COVID-19; and

WHEREAS, The employees of the South Shore University Hospital who
faithfully serve the needs of the community and its citizens with
steadfast dedication and compassionate perseverance profoundly
strengthen our shared commitment to family and community life; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Michael Dowling, CEO/President
of Northwell Health, the employees of the South Shore University
Hospital have given of their time and energy throughout the year
fighting to combat this horrific virus in Suffolk County; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the employees of the South Shore University Hospital in
recognition of their tireless devotion and unwavering dedication in an
effort to combat COVID-19 in Suffolk County; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michael Dowling, CEO/President, Northwell Health.
