HONORING Sherry Johnson upon the occasion of her
retirement after many years of distinguished service
to the Monroe County School Boards Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sherry Johnson upon the occasion of her retirement after many years of
distinguished service to the Monroe County School Boards Association
(MCSBA); she will officially retire at the end of the school year; and

WHEREAS, The mission of MCSBA is to support association members as
they strive to provide excellence in education for all students; and

WHEREAS, Sherry Johnson has held the esteemed position of Executive
Director for MCSBA since July of 2015, and has led the Association
successfully through a time of crisis for public education; prior to
this capacity, she served for 18 years on the Churchville-Chili Board of
Education from 1997-2015; and

WHEREAS, During her board service, Sherry Johnson was an active
participant at MCSBA, volunteering in a number of roles and was elected
as the Association President during the 2002-2003 school year; and

WHEREAS, In 2011, Sherry Johnson was hired as the Assistant to the
Executive Director at MCSBA where she remained employed until she was
selected to serve as Executive Director; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Sherry Johnson co-chaired several MCSBA
committees, served on the New York State Commissioner's Advisory Council
of School Board members, the NYSSBA Resolutions Committee, and the
Federal Relations Network; and

WHEREAS, Sherry Johnson earned both her undergraduate and graduate
work at SUNY Brockport in mathematics and secondary mathematics
education, and was a former mathematics teacher in the Gates Chili
Central School District; and

WHEREAS, For the past seven years, Sherry Johnson rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to MCSBA, earning the admiration,
esteem and affection of her colleagues; and

WHEREAS, In her capacity as Executive Director, Sherry Johnson
served with loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in her
official acts; and

WHEREAS, She and her husband, Mark, reside in North Chili, New York,
where they have lived for 35 years; they are the proud parents of two

sons, David (Christina) and Robert (Laura), and the loving grandparents
of four grandchildren, Bradey, Aviana, Lila and Amelia; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sherry Johnson upon the occasion of her retirement after many
years of distinguished service to the Monroe County School Boards
Association; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sherry Johnson.
