COMMENDING Deborah Shapiro upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by Residents
Forward at their Caring For Port Washington Gala on
June 2, 2023

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to individuals of high purpose and worthy accomplishment
whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the citizens of
the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Deborah Shapiro upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Residents Forward at their Caring For Port Washington
Gala on Friday, June 2, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Shapiro has served on the Residents Forward
Advocacy Board and has been instrumental in helping the organization
stay abreast and voice concerns about proposed developments in Port
Washington; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to the Port Washington Residents Forward
Board, Deborah Shapiro is Senior Vice President of Site Assessment &
Remediation, as well as a Qualified Environmental Professional at AKRF,
a leading business in environmental, planning and engineering
consulting; and

WHEREAS, In her professional role, Deborah Shapiro supervises site
assessment and remediation assignments, routinely collaborating with
developers, non-profit organizations, architects, local community groups
and businesses, and government agencies to manage the delivery of
cost-effective and on-time projects; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Shapiro's great depth of knowledge and experience
allows her to understand and comprehend technical language, and
accurately and concisely relay that information to her fellow board
members when needed, ultimately aiding the Port Washington community at
large; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Deborah Shapiro upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Residents Forward at their Caring For Port Washington
Gala; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Deborah Shapiro.
