MOURNING the death of Arthur Douglas Jobson,
native son of Stony Point, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Douglas Jobson of Stony Point, New York, died on
Monday, April 10, 2023, at the age of 85; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Douglas Jobson, known to many by his middle name,
was the oldest son to Mary (Pondi) and the Honorable Arthur Jobson on
October 13, 1937, in Stony Point, where he graduated from
Haverstraw-Stony Point High School; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Douglas Jobson proudly served his country as a
member of the United States Army for two years; and

WHEREAS, On February 1, 1965, Arthur Douglas Jobson married the love
of his life, the former June Wood and they lived together in a beautiful
home with lovely gardens within walking distance of his childhood home
on Alison Avenue; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Douglas Jobson distinguished himself in his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, For 18 years, Arthur Douglas Jobson was an active member of
the local 964 Carpenters Union, prior to launching a career in local
politics when he joined the Stony Point Town Board in 1974; he served
two terms until successfully running for Superintendent of Highways in
1977, repeatedly being reelected until he was named Rockland County
Highway Superintendent in 1996; he remained in that position until he
retired in 2000, however, his retirement was put on hold when he was
elected Stony Point Supervisor in 2004; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Douglas Jobson's commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Douglas Jobson truly loved his community and served
it as a member of the Stony Point Lions Club, Stony Point Volunteer
Ambulance Corp, and honorary member of the Stony Point Fire Department's
Wayne Hose Co. No 1; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Douglas Jobson is survived by his wife of 58 years,
June; two sons, Douglas and Jason; one brother, Thomas (Patricia) Jobson
and one sister, Joyce (Joseph) Anginoli; and many friends, colleagues
and neighbors who will long cherish his memory; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Arthur Douglas Jobson leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Arthur Douglas Jobson, native son of Stony Point,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Arthur Douglas Jobson.
