HONORING Right Worshipful Dayequan El-Amin, Most
Worshipful Gregory R. Smith, Most Worshipful Gregory
R. Smith Jr., Right Worshipful Reverend Dr. Darren
Morton, and Derek Phillips upon the occasion of
their designation for special recognition by Electa
Chapter No. 14, Prince Hall Order Eastern Star,
State of New York, on June 24, 2023

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Right Worshipful Dayequan El-Amin, Most Worshipful Gregory R. Smith,
Most Worshipful Gregory R. Smith Jr., Right Worshipful Reverend Dr.
Darren Morton, and Derek Phillips upon the occasion of their designation
for special recognition by Electa Chapter No. 14, Prince Hall Order
Eastern Star, State of New York, at its Father Appreciation Luncheon and
Father-Daughter Dance, "Salute to Our Kings," on June 24, 2023, at the
Prince Hall Masonic Temple in Harlem, New York; and

WHEREAS, Chartered as a member of the Prince Hall family on June 6,
1916, Electa Chapter No. 14 has provided outstanding service to the
surrounding community for over 100 years; and

WHEREAS, This year's distinguished honorees include: Right
Worshipful Dayequan El-Amin, Adelphic Union Lodge No. 14, Outstanding
Father Award; Most Worshipful Gregory R. Smith, Past Grand Master Most
Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of NY, Legacy Award; Most Worshipful
Gregory R. Smith Jr., Grand Master Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand
Lodge of NY, Legacy Award; Right Worshipful Reverend Dr. Darren Morton,
Comptroller City of Mount Vernon, Outstanding Father Award; and Derek
Phillips, Real Dads Network, Community Service Award; and

WHEREAS, During the luncheon, the Scholarship Committee will also
present the 2023 Reach for the STARS Scholarship to three deserving
youth, and will recognize three outstanding fathers for their dedication
to their family, the CRAFT and the community; and

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, These 2023 honoree have all given not only of their time
and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership
and consequently have been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which these men have displayed
throughout their lives; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Right Worshipful Dayequan El-Amin, Most Worshipful Gregory R.
Smith, Most Worshipful Gregory R. Smith Jr., Right Worshipful Reverend
Dr. Darren Morton, and Derek Phillips upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by Electa Chapter No. 14, Prince
Hall Order Eastern Star, State of New York, on June 24, 2023; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the aforementioned honorees.
