Senate Resolution No. 1483

HONORING Eve Van de Wal upon the occasion of her
retirement after 35 years of distinguished service
to Excellus BlueCross BlueShield
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Eve Van de Wal upon the occasion of her retirement after 35 years of
distinguished service to Excellus BlueCross BlueShield on Tuesday, April
30, 2024; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Eve Van de Wal was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, Eve Van de Wal is a Registered Nurse with more than 35
years of extensive and diverse experience in healthcare delivery and
health insurance; she joined Excellus BlueCross BlueShield in 1998, and
held several management positions throughout the company before being
appointed Regional President of the Utica/North Country region in 2008;
and
WHEREAS, Eve Van de Wal received a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Nursing from SUNY Brockport and master's degrees in Health Services
Management and Business Administration from SUNY Institute of
Technology; she also worked for more than a decade in the Critical Care
Unit of Faxton Hospital in Utica; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as Utica Regional President, Eve Van de Wal
always served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In true service to her community, Eve Van de Wal has made
giving back, making a difference, and helping others a priority; she has
supported a variety of civic and philanthropic organizations, including
the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties; Mohawk Valley
EDGE; the United Way of the Mohawk Valley; The American Heart
Association; YWCA of the Mohawk Valley; Healthcare Workforce New York,
and the Rotary Club of Utica; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and accolades for her
unrelenting dedication and service, Eve Van de Wal has received the
Catholic Charities of Oneida and Madison Counties Starfish Award; The
Genesis Group Joseph R. Carucci Legacy Award; Boys and Girls Club Living
Legend Award; The American Red Cross Great Hero Award; The Oneida County
Historical Hall of Fame Living Legends Award; the Rotary International
Paul Harris Fellow Award; the Successful Women in Business Award of the
Mohawk Valley; and the YWCA Salute to Outstanding Women Award for
Healthcare; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Dale, their two
children, and their four grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of her life and rejoice in her many achievements; and
WHEREAS, For the past 35 years, Eve Van de Wal rendered faithful,
conscientious, and valuable service to Excellus BlueCross BlueShield;
and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with Excellus BlueCross BlueShield; Eve
Van de Wal earned the admiration, esteem, and affection of her
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eve Van de Wal upon the occasion of her retirement after 35 years
of distinguished service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Eve Van de Wal.
