CONGRATULATING Brynn Shepardson upon the occasion
of capturing the 152-pound Division III wrestling
title at the NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling Championships
on January 26, 2024

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Brynn
Shepardson upon the occasion of capturing the 152-pound Division III
wrestling title at the NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling Championships on Friday,
January 26, 2024, held at SRC Arena in Onondaga, New York; and

WHEREAS, In front of a capacity crowd and a fan base of family,
friends and teammates, Brynn Shepardson claimed the 2024 championship
title by pinning Shenendehowa's Isabella Gretzinger three minutes and 43
seconds into the match; finishing in fourth place in the 145-pound
weight class last winter, this season she moved up to 152 and took home
the state invite crown; and

WHEREAS, Currently ranked No. 22 in the Nation, Brynn Shepardson has
placed 4th at Fargo 2023, 1st at Coxsackie-Athens Invitational 2024, and
2nd at Eastern States 2024; and

WHEREAS, A standout wrestler for the Mounties, Brynn Shepardson
ended her season with an outstanding overall record of 44-17; and

WHEREAS, A junior at Little Falls High School, Brynn Shepardson is a
high achieving scholar, National Honor Society member, and a three sport
athlete; she also finds time to volunteer throughout her community for
various organizations outside of school; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as wrestling, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Coaches Brian Stever, Sam Milikien, and Marc
Verri have worked hard to hone the skills of this champion, teaching
this outstanding athlete lessons which will prove invaluable both on and
off the mat; and

WHEREAS, Brynn Shepardson has clearly utilized dedication,
determination and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her school; now, therefore,
be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Brynn Shepardson upon the occasion of capturing the

152-pound Division III wrestling title at the NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling
Championships on January 26, 2024; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Brynn Shepardson and Coaches Brian Stever, Sam Milikien,
and Marc Verri.
