honoring Karen Carey for nearly 50 years of
distinguished service to the media industry and upon
the occasion of her retirement from Townsquare Media
in Utica, New York, after serving 12 years as Market
President and Chief Revenue Officer

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Karen Carey upon the occasion of her retirement after 12 years of
distinguished service as Market President and Chief Revenue Officer for
Townsquare Media, to be celebrated on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at
The Tailor and the Cook in Utica, New York; and

WHEREAS, Following a fulfilling 37-year career in media and 12 years
at Townsquare Media as Market President and Chief Revenue Officer, Karen
Carey has decided to retire and start the next chapter of her life
spending more time with her husband, daughter, family, and friends; and

WHEREAS, A highly educated individual, Karen Carey earned an
Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies in 1985,
followed by a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Journalism
from St. John Fisher College in 1987; and

WHEREAS, Rising through the ranks of the media industry, from 1998
to 2002 Karen Carey served as General Sales Manager for WVOR FM, then as
Director of Sales for the next year at Jacor Communications; from 2003
to 2010, she served as Vice President and General Manager at Clear
Channel Radio before taking a position as Account Manager to MPW
Marketing, which ultimately led to her accepting her role at Townsquare
Media, Big Frog 104.3-WFRG; Lite 98.7-WLZW; 96.1 The Eagle-WODZ; and 950
AM WIBX, in August of 2012; and

WHEREAS, Karen Carey is an inspiring leader, that leaves behind a
legacy at Townsquare Media; the company grew from her efforts to lead
the local team, work closely with community members, clients, and
listeners to make Utica a better place; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to serving her community, Karen Carey serves on
the boards of a myriad of organizations, such as the Bivona Child
Advocacy Center, City of Rochester Mayor's Literacy Foundation, Heart of
Gold Children's Foundation, Nazareth College School of Management
Advisory Council, and New York State Broadcasters Association; and

WHEREAS, For the past 12 years, Karen Carey has rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to Townsquare Media in Utica, New
York; and

WHEREAS, In her capacity as Market President and Chief Revenue
Officer, Karen Carey served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and


WHEREAS, In her official acts, Karen Carey was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems,
earning the admiration, esteem, and affection of her colleagues; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Karen Carey upon the occasion of her retirement after 12 years of
distinguished service as Market President and Chief Revenue Officer for
Townsquare Media in Utica, New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Karen Carey.
