CONGRATULATING Trooper Thomas Haver upon the
occasion of his retirement after 20 years of
distinguished service to the New York State Police
Department

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to
honor those exemplary public servants who devoted their lives to
preserving and protecting such values; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Trooper Thomas Haver upon the occasion of his retirement after 20 years
of distinguished service to the New York State Police Department, to be
celebrated on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Irish Cultural Center of
the Mohawk Valley in Utica, New York; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; Trooper Thomas
Haver is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, Trooper Thomas Haver began his career with the New York
State Police Department on December 8, 2003, and faithfully served the
citizens of this great Empire State until his official retirement on
December 27, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious tenure, Trooper Thomas Haver
epitomized the role and accentuated the ideals of an outstanding law
enforcement officer, having served in Troops C and F, and retiring from
Troop D, Zone 1 SP Poland in Herkimer County, New York; and

WHEREAS, A testament to his steadfast dedication and admirable
character, Trooper Thomas Haver earned numerous training certifications
and commendations, including Firearms Instructor and Patrol Rifle; he
was also a member of the Mobile Field Unit; and

WHEREAS, Trooper Thomas Haver received a Superintendent's Letter of
Commendation from New York State Police Superintendent Joseph D'Amico
for his response to a three-story apartment housefire with people
trapped inside on August 1, 2010, in the Village of Middleville,
Herkimer County; justly recognized as a hero, Haver and a fellow Trooper
were responsible for rescuing four people from the burning building and
the investigation into this fire led to the arrests of two subjects for
felony arson; and

WHEREAS, In keeping with the finest traditions of the New York State
Police, Trooper Thomas Haver has distinguished himself by his exemplary
and outstanding performance on behalf of the community he so faithfully
and courageously served; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the

preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Trooper Thomas Haver upon the occasion of his retirement,
and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be if further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to New York State Trooper Thomas Haver.
