MOURNING the death of Detective Sergeant Frank D.
Gualdino, Yonkers police officer, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a courageous police officer who dedicated his purposeful life and career
in faithful service to his family and to the residents of Yonkers, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Frank D. Gualdino died from injuries sustained in a car
crash on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the age of 53; and
WHEREAS, Frank D. Gualdino distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, A native of Yonkers, New York, Frank Daniel Gualdino was
born on August 8, 1969 to Tereza and the late Francisco Gualdino, going
on to graduate from Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers and received a
degree in criminal justice from Westchester County Community College
hoping to use his degree to pursue his life-long dream of becoming a
police officer; and
WHEREAS, Frank D. Gualdino joined the New York City Transit Police
Department in 1994 and upon graduation from the Transit Police Academy
he received the sharpshooter award, beginning a decorated career of
continuously fulfilling his dream and benefitting all of those he
served, eventually joining the Yonkers Police Department in 1998; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his 24 year service with the Yonkers Police
Department, Frank D. Gualdino worked in multiple departments such as the
3rd Precinct, Traffic Court and, after being promoted to Sergeant, the
Traffic/Motorcycle Unit where he always carried out his duties with
grace, exuberance and diligence; and
WHEREAS, Detective Sergeant Frank D. Gualdino will be sorely missed
by his family, friends, brothers and sisters in blue, community, and New
York State as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Detective Sergeant Frank D. Gualdino leaves behind a legacy
which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a
comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Detective Sergeant Frank D. Gualdino, Yonkers police
officer, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Frank D. Gualdino and the Yonkers Police
Department.
