COMMENDING the Ed. Foundation upon the occasion of
hosting its "An Enchanted Evening" Gala on April 5,
2024

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York who have made stellar
efforts on behalf of the young persons of this great State, namely,
those who work to ensure a fulfilling and enriching educational
experience for all; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Ed. Foundation upon the occasion of hosting its "An
Enchanted Evening" Gala on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the North Hills
Country Club in Manhasset, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Ed. Foundation is an independent, nonprofit,
community-based organization which was founded to support initiatives
that are beyond basic educational needs and to enhance and expand
educational opportunities for all students in the Port Washington Union
Free School District; the foundation actively seeks donations, grants,
and government funding for the purpose of distributing such funds to
selected programs and resources to the benefit of the communities and
organizations which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The esteemed honorees of this year's gala are the Ed.
Foundation's Parent Partner Organizations: Parents' Council, Schreiber
HSA, Weber HSA, Daly NSA, Guggenheim HSA, Manorhaven PTA, Salem HSA,
Sousa HSA, AGATE, and SEPTA; these groups are all parent-based
organizations dedicated to providing the school district's students the
best education possible through financial investment and advocacy; and

WHEREAS, Parents' Council is the coordinating board of the
district's individual school PTAs and HSAs; the council seeks to explore
and reach consensus on issues and topics of general concern; its goal is
to work for the welfare of the entire district; and

WHEREAS, The individual school HSA/PTA organizations share the same
mission to bring both home and school together to promote the best
educational opportunities for Port Washington students; through
school-based fundraisers, each organization strives to bring exciting
educational opportunities in the form of equipment and programming to
their student bodies; and

WHEREAS, The Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA)
exists to address the needs of children in special education programs,
both in and out of the school district; its goals are to keep parents,
teachers, and other related personnel informed of issues and changes in
programs, and to promote better awareness of Special Education; and

WHEREAS, AGATE is a home-school association that works with parents,
teachers, administrators, and other organizations to advocate for the
unique needs of diverse gifted students and other advanced learners from

pre-kindergarten through graduation; AGATE believes all students deserve
an appropriate and challenging education designed to help them achieve
their fullest potential; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
work diligently to enhance the well-being and vitality of their
community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Ed. Foundation upon the occasion of hosting its "An
Enchanted Evening" Gala on April 5, 2024; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Ed. Foundation and the aforementioned honored
organizations.
