CONGRATULATING Patrick "Pat" Conners upon the
occasion of his induction into the New York State
Wrestling Hall of Fame on February 24, 2024

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Patrick "Pat" Conners upon the occasion of his induction
into the New York State Wrestling Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 24,
2024, at MVP Arena, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, A man who has made significant contributions to the sport
of wrestling, Pat Conners was inducted into the New York State Wrestling
Hall of Fame during the state championship final matches; and

WHEREAS, A 1984 graduate of Baldwinsville High School, Pat Conners
is a two-time Section III state champion in the 177-pound weight class,
having won the championship in 1983 and 1984; and

WHEREAS, In 1984, Pat Conners left a momentous legacy in his last
year wrestling for Baldwinsville; he placed sixth at States and received
all state honors; and

WHEREAS, Embarking on an illustrious career teaching youth, Pat
Conners began as a teacher and coach at South Jefferson Central School
in 1989; he took over as wrestling head coach in 1992; and

WHEREAS, Contributing to the school and community for 21 years, Pat
Conners retired for two years before ultimately deciding to not leave
his coaching career and return to the sport; and

WHEREAS, With a truly remarkable record of 451-98-1 throughout his
career, Pat Conners led the South Jefferson wresting team to the
following achievements: 20 Frontier League Titles, 10 Section III Class
B Championships, three Section III Interclass/Divisional Championships,
two Section III Dual Meet Championships, and in 2013 his team was ranked
No. 1 in the Division II New York State Sportswriter's Dual Meet Poll;
and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Pat Conners created and runs
the 1000 Islands Summer Duals in Clayton, which is one of the premier
off-season tournaments in the Northeast for the sport of wrestling; and

WHEREAS, Coaches such as Pat Conners provide a tremendous service to
the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Pat Conners for his
extraordinary coaching accomplishments which are a tribute to his skill,
dedication and commitment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Patrick "Pat" Conners upon the occasion of his induction
into the New York State Wrestling Hall of Fame on February 24, 2024; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Patrick "Pat" Conners.
