HONORING Lisa Fagan for her ceaseless dedication
to the field of education, in conjunction with the
observance of Teacher Appreciation Week

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this
great State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lisa Fagan for her ceaseless dedication to the field of education, in
conjunction with the observance of Teacher Appreciation Week; and

WHEREAS, Teacher Appreciation Week is an annual event celebrated in
the United States during the first full week of May; it is a dedicated
time to honor and acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and impact of
educators across the nation; and

WHEREAS, This year, Teacher Appreciation Week will take place May
6-10, 2024; this week-long observance allows communities to come
together to express gratitude and appreciation for the vital role
teachers play in shaping the future; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Fagan has been instructing students with disabilities
since 2001, receiving her Bachelor's degree from Keene State College and
Master's from California University of Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, After teaching for a decade in the Chicago school system,
Lisa Fagan moved to Schenectady, New York, where she continued her work
and passion of being a consistent positive figure in many scholars'
lives; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Fagan is not only a mentor to younger teachers, but
also works to continue bringing love to so many colleagues around the
building and her district; she was nominated and finished in the top
three of best educators in the area in the fall of 2023 in The Daily
Gazette, and has received phenomenal reviews from parents, alumni, and
current scholars; and

WHEREAS, A caring, competent, and committed leader, Lisa Fagan's
character and integrity are the hallmarks of her life and work as an
educational leader, a community volunteer and as a person; and

WHEREAS, The Schenectady community is indeed fortunate and blessed
to have such a dedicated and respected educator; her wisdom and
contributions reach into every classroom, truly making a difference in
the lives of those lucky enough to work with her; and

WHEREAS, A significant contributor to education in New York State,
Lisa Fagan has continually demonstrated an impressive dedication, an
unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of
the educational programs and opportunities offered at the Schenectady

School District for the benefit of its faculty and students, as well as
for the entire community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lisa Fagan for her ceaseless dedication to the field of education,
in conjunction with the observance of Teacher Appreciation Week; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lisa Fagan.
