MOURNING the death of Robert J. Brauer III,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Robert J. Brauer III, of Newport, New York, died on
Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the age of 61; and
WHEREAS, On May 12, 1962, Robert J. Brauer III was born to Robert
Brauer and the late Linda (Brewer) Brauer; after graduating as
salutatorian from West Canada Valley Central School in 1981, he
continued his education at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC),
obtaining an associate degree; and
WHEREAS, After his college graduation, Robert J. Brauer III joined
the United States Navy in 1984 and was honorably discharged as Petty
Officer First Class in 1990; he is a plank owner, a member of the crew
of a commissioned ship, of the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71; and
WHEREAS, Upon his return from his military service, Robert J. Brauer
III married Renie Rieck at St. James Cathedral in Orlando, Florida, on
February 18, 1984; and
WHEREAS, Entergy Corporation in Buchanan, New York, where he was a
Nuclear Power Operations Instructor, was Robert J. Brauer III's last
place of employment; and
WHEREAS, Robert J. Brauer III relished learning, teaching,
gardening, being a jokester, and being "Poppy" to his grandchildren; he
enjoyed watching the New York Giants team, hunting, and participating in
outdoor activities; he was also an active member of St. John's Church in
Newport; and
WHEREAS, Robert J. Brauer III is survived by his wife of 39 years,
Renie Brauer; father, Robert Brauer; four sons, Daniel (Deana) Brauer,
Justin Brauer (Natalie Barber), Charlie (Alyssa) Brauer, and Kevin
Brauer (Christine Smith); brother, Charles (Lorri) Brauer; two
sisters-in-law, Stacey Durrand and Patricia Brauer; three grandchildren,
Ophelia, Nathaniel, and Violet, and another grandson due in December;
and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; he is predeceased by his
mother, Linda Brauer, and two brothers, Daniel and Gregory Brauer; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Robert J. Brauer III leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Robert J. Brauer III, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Robert J. Brauer III.
