MOURNING the death of Daniel J. Bruno, meritorious
police officer, distinguished citizen, and dedicated
member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a courageous police officer who dedicated his purposeful life and career
in faithful service to his family, community and the Metropolitan
Transportation Authority Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Daniel J. Bruno of Mahopac, New York, died on Thursday,
June 22, 2023, at the age of 53; and

WHEREAS, Born in Mount Kisco, New York, on September 17, 1969, to
Alfio Bruno and Pamela Slobey, Daniel J. Bruno graduated from Somers
High School and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps from
which he was honorably discharged; and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service, Daniel J.
Bruno attended Mercy College to study veterinary medicine before
becoming a police officer with the Metropolitan Transportation
Authority, working out of Beacon, New York; and

WHEREAS, In his spare time, Daniel J. Bruno enjoyed hunting and
fishing, sled dragging, boating, motorcycles and riding his dirt bike;
and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by his father, Alfio Bruno, Daniel J. Bruno is
survived by his mother, Pamela Slobey; two sisters, Julie Bruno-Sullivan
and Lisa Parker; his partner, Theresa Zieran; and his closest friends,
Anthony Cassone, Joseph Cassone, Michael Butironi, and Matt Cable; and

WHEREAS, Daniel J. Bruno's infinite selflessness and benevolence
will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight
and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to
the countless lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Daniel J. Bruno leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will
be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Daniel J. Bruno, noting the significance of his
contributions on behalf of the citizens of this noble Empire State and
expressing its deepest condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Daniel J. Bruno.
