MOURNING the death of Judith Anderson, devoted
wife and mother, distinguished citizen, and
dedicated member of her community

WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in our community and have had a measurable positive
impact on the lives of its residents; Judith Anderson was one such
individual; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of Judith Anderson, a woman of
devout faith renowned for her ability to bring comfort to those who
needed it most; and

WHEREAS, Judith Anderson of Croton-on-Hudson, New York, died on
Friday, June 26, 2023, at the age of 75; and

WHEREAS, Well-known for her service as Lay Chaplain for the
Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department for several years, Judith Anderson was
a source of comfort and warmth for many members and brought a sense of
faith to firefighters and their loved ones; and

WHEREAS, Born in Queens, New York, in 1947, Judith Anderson
graduated from Dominican Commercial High School in 1964, before
beginning her career at the William J. Burns International Detective
Agency in Manhattan at the young age of 16; and

WHEREAS, After relocating to Westchester for the agency, Judith met
and married the love of her life, Robert Anderson; the couple went on to
build their home in Croton-on-Hudson, and celebrated 50 wonderful years
of marriage in October of 2022; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her service with the fire department, Judith
Anderson gave tirelessly of her time and energies toward drug addiction
counseling and rehabilitation programs throughout New York State with
Father Daniel Egan of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement at Graymoor
in Garrison; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, she spent many weekends helping residents at
St. Francis Farm in Lacona and New Hope Manor in Barryville, and served
as the co-Director of the Hudson Valley Coalition for Life; she also
served her community as a Eucharistic Minister for the Holy Name of Mary
Church and as a religious education teacher; and

WHEREAS, Judith Anderson is survived by her husband, Robert; their
four children, Lee, Michael, Debra, and Megan; five grandchildren,
Mason, Logan, Livia, Saoirse, and Levon; two sisters, Dolores and
Jeanne; a brother, Thomas; and many other family members including her
cherished nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Judith Anderson's infinite selflessness and benevolence
will shine on through her family's vivid and happy memories; her insight

and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to
the countless lives she touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Judith Anderson leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing woman; she
will be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Judith Anderson, and to express its deepest
condolences to her family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Judith Anderson.
