MOURNING the death of Francine Varisco-Magnarelli,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of her
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Francine Varisco-Magnarelli of Liverpool, New York died on
March 16, 2024 at the age of 68; and

WHEREAS, Born on May 10, 1955, Francine Varisco-Magnarelli was
raised by the late Anthony and Frances Varisco; and

WHEREAS, A well-educated woman, Francine Varisco-Magnarelli
graduated from Saint John Baptist Academy in 1973 and went on to further
her education by earning her undergraduate degree from Syracuse
University and her master's degree from SUNY Oswego; and

WHEREAS, A renowned professor of Cazenovia College for over 30
years, Francine Varisco-Magnarelli dedicated a vast portion of her life
to changing the campus for the better and also to caring for her
students; and

WHEREAS, Exemplifying her selflessness and leadership capabilities,
Francine Varisco-Magnarelli was a Chair of the Business Department at
Cazenovia College and also led various internship programs, preparing
students for their future and serving as a motivation in their lives;
and

WHEREAS, As a testament to her incredible work ethic, Francine
Varisco-Magnarelli received Emeritus status, an honorary title granted
to someone who retires from a position of distinction, in 2023; and

WHEREAS, Francine Varisco-Magnarelli always made time for her
students and kept in touch with them well after they graduated; she was
highly respected by fellow faculty members for her cheerful disposition,
caring attitude, and dedication to student development; and

WHEREAS, A beautiful light in the lives of all those with whom she
came in contact; Francine Varisco-Magnarelli loved spending time in
Florida with her husband, Jim, bathing in the sun, and going on shopping
adventures with her daughter Allison, sister Diane, and niece Rachel;
she enjoyed spending time in her backyard pool and was an avid member of
her bunco group of friends; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, Francine Varisco-Magnarelli was
passionate about preparing large holiday meals and spending hours making
traditional Italian recipes passed down from her grandmother; and

WHEREAS, Francine Varisco-Magnarelli distinguished herself in her
profession and by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of her community; and

WHEREAS, Francine Varisco-Magnarelli's commitment to excellence, and
her spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Francine Varisco-Magnarelli is survived by her husband of
31 years, Jim Magnarelli; son, Alex Varisco; daughter, Allison
Magnarelli; sister, Diane Goodwin; aunt, Marie Sardo; uncle, Frank
DiMauro; niece, Rachel Brockley; nephew, Paul Goodwin; and cousins, Lisa
Sardo, Mike Lang, Dina Douglas, Frank DiMauro, and Benny DiMauro; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Francine Varisco-Magnarelli leaves behind a legacy which
will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting
memory to all she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Francine Varisco-Magnarelli, distinguished citizen
and devoted member of her community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Francine Varisco-Magnarelli.
