MOURNING the death of Diane Robinson, devoted
mother and grandmother, distinguished citizen, and
dedicated member of her community
WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in our community and have had a measurable positive
impact on the lives of its residents; Diane Robinson was one such
individual; and
WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of Diane Robinson, who died on
Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the age 70, noting the significance of
her purposeful life and accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Born on October 14, 1953, in Norfolk, Virginia, Diane
Robinson was the proud sibling of 10 amazing brothers and sisters;
together, they were raised in Brooklyn, New York, by their Grandma
Fannie Olds; and
WHEREAS, Diane Robinson met the love of her life, Jimmy Gettis, and
the couple raised their five wonderful children in a home filled with
laughter and love; and
WHEREAS, After attending E.O.C. in Albany, Diane Robinson used her
certified nursing skills to heal and care for others; and
WHEREAS, In her spare time, Diane Robinson took Tae Kwon Do classes;
she also had a passion for fashion, and could rock any outfit with style
and grace; and
WHEREAS, While she was passionate about many things, above all her
greatest joy came from spending time with her family, creating memories
and never taking life too seriously; and
WHEREAS, Diane Robinson is survived by her children, Ebony, Dawn,
Naquan, Beavi'n, and Nikia; as well as many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Diane Robinson's infinite selflessness and benevolence will
shine on through her family's vivid and happy memories; her insight and
strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to the
countless lives she touched; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Diane Robinson leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all who
were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing woman; she will
be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Diane Robinson, and to express its deepest
condolences to her family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Diane Robinson.
