Senate Resolution No. 2340

HONORING Mt. Zion Chapter No. 59 upon the occasion
of hosting its Five Point Tea Fundraiser on June 23,
2024
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mt. Zion Chapter No. 59 upon the occasion of hosting its Five Point Tea
Fundraiser on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the Brooklyn Prince Hall Masonic
Temple Ballroom; and
WHEREAS, Worthy Matron Kawana Howard, through her strong leadership,
steady teaching, and unwavering love for her community, family, and her
fellow sisters, has shown that leadership can be done with true grace
and elegance in all facets; and
WHEREAS, The lovely women of Mt. Zion Chapter No.59 have proven that
through cohesion, hard work, and partnership, harmony can be brought to
the community which they faithfully and unremittingly serve; and
WHEREAS, Members of Mt. Zion Chapter No.59 have shown that they not
only have the desire to do honorable work in the community, but the
long-standing wherewithal to continue to persevere in the name of
community-based excellence; and
WHEREAS, The honorable work of Mt. Zion Chapter No. 59 in providing
for the youth, supporting summer programs and initiatives to help
inspire and better position children to remain and become successful, to
aid in the endeavor of providing safe places, events, and functions for
all the community youth, and especially providing young Black and Brown
girls successful models to look up to and aspire to be, deserves to be
applauded by all citizens of this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, The success of Mt. Zion Chapter No.59 is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and institutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mt. Zion Chapter No. 59 upon the occasion of hosting its Five
Point Tea Fundraiser on June 23, 2024; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mt. Zion Chapter No. 59, and Worthy Matron Kawana Howard.
