COMMENDING Resilient Young Minds, Inc. upon the
occasion of hosting its Annual I'm So Resilient
Masquerade Gala on June 7, 2024

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those enduring organizations which devote their
purposeful energies to improving the quality and dignity of life of
those they serve; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Resilient Young Minds, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its
Annual I'm So Resilient Masquerade Gala on June 7, 2024, at 1940
Rockaway Parkway, in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Resilient Young Minds is a nonprofit organization founded
by Juanita Tom, an emotion regulation coach specializing in working with
kids and teens, which aims to teach at-risk youth between the ages of 10
and 17, as well as their parents and young adults, how to overcome
trauma with strength and resilience to reach their full potential; and

WHEREAS, Through tailored resilience retreats and camps, Resilient
Young Minds introduces the youth and adults to new environments and
provides access to long-term mentorship and coaching; and

WHEREAS, Resilience Camp, the primary youth program of Resilient
Young Minds, selects 10-30 at-risk youth who have experienced traumatic
experiences and offers the experience of a one-week sleepaway camp; this
camp teaches social-emotional learning, hosts self-esteem building
workshops, and challenges participants to identify their trauma in
healthy, safe ways; through healing and empowerment, participants can
overcome their trauma and convert it into motivational tools to achieve
their goals; and

WHEREAS, This vital organization's commitment to igniting the
potential of its youth and positioning them for long-term success as
leaders in their communities is a testament to the dedication of its
caring and capable staff, characterized in part by unbridled enthusiasm
and an uncompromising standard of excellence on behalf of the
demographic and community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Resilient Young Minds;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Resilient Young Minds, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its

Annual I'm So Resilient Masquerade Gala on June 7, 2024; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Resilient Young Minds, Inc.
