CONGRATULATING the Moravia High School Girls
Basketball Team upon the occasion of capturing the
NYSPHSAA Basketball Class C Championship on March
15, 2024

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Moravia High School Girls Basketball Team upon the occasion of capturing
the NYSPHSAA Basketball Class C Championship, held on Friday, March 15,
2024, at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York; and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Moravia High School Girls Basketball Team won their first state title in
a decisive victory over Duanesburg with a final score of 46-45; and

WHEREAS, The Blue Devils made history this season, remarkably,
winning their first Section IV championship over Watkins Glen, and then
driving on to their first state title championship in program history;
and

WHEREAS, With the Moravia High School Boys Basketball Team capturing
the championship as well on March 16, 2024, it is the first time ever a
school from Section IV has earned both the boys and girls state titles
in the same year; both teams received a joyous welcome home from the
community with a "champions parade" through the village; and

WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of navy blue and white,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Blue Devils throughout their journey as they ended their
season with an impressive 24-1 record; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as basketball, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach John Crossgrove and Assistant
Coach Scott Badman have worked hard to hone the skills of this
championship team, teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which
will prove invaluable both on and off the court; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach John Crossgrove, Assistant Coach Scott Badman,
and all of the outstanding athletes on the Moravia High School Girls
Basketball Team have clearly utilized dedication, determination, and
teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence
which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Moravia High School Girls Basketball
Team: Kylee Cooper, Daisy Drake, Olivia Genson, Gabriella Heim, Lily
Heim, Lashley Heredia Castillo, Kendall Hess, Jessalyn Jones, Allison
Kehoe, Jordan Smith, and Caraline Wasileski; Head Coach John Crossgrove;
and Assistant Coach Scott Badman upon the occasion of capturing the
NYSPHSAA Basketball Class C Championship on March 15, 2024; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Moravia High School Girls Basketball
Team; Head Coach John Crossgrove; and Assistant Coach Scott Badman.
