MOURNING the death of Corinne V. Dick,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of her
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Corinne V. Dick of Brooklyn, New York died on May 23, 2024,
at the age of 63; and

WHEREAS, Born on November 5, 1960, Corinne V. Dick grew up in
Huddersfield, England, and embarked on a journey to Carriacou, Grenada,
West Indies as a young woman; she eventually immigrated to Brooklyn, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Upon moving to New York, Corinne V. Dick graduated from
Erasmus Hall High School; she furthered her education and received her
college degree; and

WHEREAS, Embarking on her professional career, Corinne V. Dick
worked at Cherechian Trading for over 25 years as an executive
assistant, significantly contributing to the organization; and

WHEREAS, With a passion for the small joys of life, Corinne V. Dick
was an avid fan of the daytime soap operas "General Hospital" and "Days
of Our Lives," enjoyed shopping at Kings Plaza and experimenting with
fashion, and loved to travel and spend time with her family; and

WHEREAS, Corinne V. Dick distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and

WHEREAS, Corinne V. Dick's commitment to excellence, and her spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Corinne V. Dick is survived by her sons, Darnell and Justin
Joseph; mother, Winifred Dick; brothers, Linus Cummings and Robert Dick;
sisters, Margaret Fortune, Kathleen Collier, and Rochelle McSween;
aunts, Ethelyn Lawrence, Theodora Bristol, Clarissa Alexander, and Maria
Blair; uncles, Emmery "Panta' Matheson, Ira "Paren" Matheson, and
Sylvester Matheson; godchildren, Paula Akins-Yallah, Joann Blair-Ewers,
Matthew James, Leotha Andrew, Mathias Coy, Corinthia Melville; the
Birthday Crew, Muriel, Pauline, Kathy, Horace, Angela, Gloria, Leslie,
Keith, Lewis "Figgy", and Donna; a host of nieces and nephews; and a
plethora of family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Corinne V. Dick leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Corinne V. Dick, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Corinne V. Dick.
