HONORING Leyanna McIntosh upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Youth of the Year
Award by Stuy Park Lions Club, Inc. on February 17,
2023

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Leyanna McIntosh upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Youth of the Year Award by Stuy Park Lions Club, Inc. to be
celebrated at its 30th Annual Pearl Red and White Gala on Friday,
February 17, 2023, at Antun's, Queens Village, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Stuy Park Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs
International, one of the largest service organizations in the world,
and is deeply committed to meeting the challenges of public service; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Leyanna McIntosh is
an active and involved student at Brooklyn College Academy High School,
and was a member of "Black Girl Code" and "Code Next"; she also joined
Smallwood Dance School, where she collaborated with the supervisors to
instruct and develop young dancers with dance skills; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Leyanna McIntosh serves as Vice-President of
Stuy Park LEO Club, where the focus is on engaging youths in positive
activities, as well as serving the community by raising awareness on the
initiatives of Lions Inernational; and

WHEREAS, After graduating in June of 2023, with an Advanced Regents
Diploma, Leyanna McIntosh plans to major in environmental studies so
that she can continue to use her voice to make our world a better place
to live, work and play; and

WHEREAS, The success of the State of New York, the strength of our
communities, and the vitality of American society depend, in great
measure, upon the dedication of young people like Leyanna McIntosh, who
use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Leyanna McIntosh
for her outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and
community service, recognizing the value of her labors and the promise
of her future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Leyanna McIntosh upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Youth of the Year Award by Stuy Park Lions Club, Inc.; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Leyanna McIntosh.
