COMMENDING Resilient Young Minds, Inc. upon the
occasion of hosting its Annual I'm So Resilient Gala
on February 25, 2023

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York who have made stellar
efforts on behalf of young people and their futures; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Resilient Young Minds, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its
Annual I'm So Resilient Gala, A Purple Carpet Affair, to be celebrated
on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Phaze 2 in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Resilient Young Minds, Inc. (RYM) is a non-profit
organization in Brooklyn, New York, which aims to teach at-risk youth
ages 10-17, their parents, and young adults how to fight trauma with
resilience on personal, professional, and social levels; and

WHEREAS, Offering customized resilience retreats or camps, Resilient
Young Minds, Inc. exposes participants to a new environment and provides
access to long term mentorship or coaching; and

WHEREAS, The funds raised at the Annual Gala directly supports RYM's
Youth Summer Resilience Sleepaway camp; and

WHEREAS, Awards are given based on RYM's three levels of resilience:
personal, professional, and social; additionally, the participants are
celebrated from the previous year who have completed at least one of the
camps or volunteered, and they are honored for the amazing work they
have done to identify trauma and apply resilience coping skills to
access their healing; and

WHEREAS, There will be an "I'm So Resilient Leader Impact Award"
presented to a community leader who promotes or advocates for mental
health in their communities, and also a career scholarship will be
provided to high school seniors or a parent who would like to create
generational wealth for their family through starting a business; and

WHEREAS, Resilience Camp, formally known as YES Academy, is the
primary youth program of RYM, and the program selects 10-30 at-risk
youth, ages 10-17, who have experienced a traumatic event from a pool of
applicants; and

WHEREAS, The one-week sleepaway camp, Resilience Camp, teaches
social-emotional learning, resilience, and self-esteem building
workshops that challenge participants to identify their trauma, in
healthy ways, and access healing; and

WHEREAS, The purpose of Resilience Camp is to remove at-risk youth
from their usual environment into one that is peaceful, safe, and will
empower youth to face their internal conflicts, begin the process to

overcome them, and convert their trauma into a motivational tool to
achieve their professional goals; and

WHEREAS, All youth participants in the sleepaway camp will be
provided a mentor to serve as their personal resilience coach for the
duration of the experience, and many mentors stay in contact with their
mentee after the camp is over to remain a positive influence on them;
and

WHEREAS, This vital organization is truly committed to igniting the
potential of its youth, positioning them for long term success as
leaders in the community; and

WHEREAS, The success of Resilient Young Minds, Inc. is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its dedicated staff, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Resilient Young Minds,
Inc.; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Resilient Young Minds, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its
Annual I'm So Resilient Gala, A Purple Carpet Affair, on February 25,
2023; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Resilient Young Minds, Inc.
