HONORING Bryanna Jenkins upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the PASEsetter Award by
the Partnership for After School Education on
February 28, 2023

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bryanna Jenkins upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
PASEsetter Award by the Partnership for After School Education at its
30th Anniversary PASEsetter Awards Benefit on Tuesday, February 28,
2023, at Cipriani, New York, New York; and

WHEREAS, Bryanna Jenkins is receiving this prestigious award for her
role as an afterschool educator whose commitment, energy and creativity
has had an indelible impact on the children and youth of New York City;
and

WHEREAS, PASE is a child-focused organization that promotes and
supports quality afterschool programs, particularly those serving young
people from underserved communities; Bryanna Jenkins truly exemplifies
this vital organization's mission of delivering consistent, high-quality
programming to youth and increases their capacity to meet the needs of
their communities; and

WHEREAS, Bryanna Jenkins grew up in a large family in the Bronx, New
York, where she was inspired by supportive educators to become a teacher
and role model for each and every student she encountered; and

WHEREAS, At the age of 19, Bryanna Jenkins started her career with
BronxWorks as a member of the Summer Youth Employment Program;
appreciated for her gentle and compassionate way with the children, she
was invited to become a permanent youth counselor for the afterschool
program; and

WHEREAS, Bryanna Jenkins was placed with the kindergarten and first
grade students at BronxWorks, and from day one, she strived to make each
and every child feel loved and special; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the last six years of her employment with
BronxWorks, Bryanna Jenkins has become a confident leader in the
classroom and often steps up to help new counselors when they join the
staff; and

WHEREAS, Staff members often look to Bryanna Jenkins for advice on
navigating difficult situations that arise in their classrooms because
they know she is open and honest about her successes and struggles and
has the experience and knowledge to make them a better educator; and


WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Bryanna Jenkins has truly made a
difference in the lives of numerous students, helping them to be the
very best they can be; and

WHEREAS, Bryanna Jenkins is currently majoring in sociology at
Lehman College, and after graduating, she hopes to become a school
guidance counselor and continue in her mission to support students with
careful attention, kindness, and compassion; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bryanna Jenkins upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the PASEsetter Award by the Partnership for After School Education;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Bryanna Jenkins.
