MOURNING the death of Joseph Trevor Fletcher,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Trevor Fletcher of Brooklyn, New York, died on April
11, 2020, at the age of 60; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Trevor Fletcher distinguished himself in his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Trevor Fletcher's commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Born in Grenada on September 12, 1959, to Lilian Ann
Fletcher and George Victor Lalsee, Joseph Trevor Fletcher began his
early life of religion and education in Grenada at St. Patrick's
Anglican School and Church, and then later attended Mac Donald College;
and

WHEREAS, On February 4, 1978, Joseph Trevor Fletcher immigrated from
Grenada to America to be with his mother and siblings; shortly
thereafter, he moved to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and spent time
bonding and working with his late brother, Anslim; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Trevor Fletcher later returned to the United States,
beginning a life in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, He married his beloved wife, Veronica Elizabeth, on August
21, 2004, with whom he had three cherished children, Joshua Rollins,
Zachary John, and Madison Elizabeth-Ann; and

WHEREAS, Always displaying a sincere love of fatherhood, Joseph
Trevor Fletcher enjoyed road trips, cruises, and traveling to other
countries with his family; he also found great joy in gardening, fixing
electronics, completing home repair projects, building Lego sets, and
watching movies with his family; and

WHEREAS, A gifted man of great talents, Joseph Trevor Fletcher was
handy in working on cars and constructing houses, and creative with
designing and crafting furniture, as well as with sewing beautiful
clothing and draperies; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Trevor Fletcher renovated homes, designed furniture
projects, worked on renovating a Broadway theatre, and maintained houses
and apartment complexes along the East Coast of the United States; one
of his most memorable projects was designing and building a

three-bunkbed wall unit in Lakewood, New Jersey; it was a special father
and son activity with Joshua that will be treasured forever; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Trevor Fletcher dedicated over 17 years of his life
to service with the Metropolitan Transit Authority of New York City,
working several years at the Central Maintenance Facility in East New
York, Brooklyn and Maspeth, Queens, before transferring to the Flatbush
Avenue Depot in Brooklyn; and

WHEREAS, He was dedicated to his own family, encouraging, and
supporting their participation in church and community events at
Cornerstone Baptist Church, Bergen Beach Youth Organization/Millennium
Development, Girl and Boy Scouts, as well as supporting his MTA brothers
and sisters at work and at MTA Family Day celebrations; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Trevor Fletcher is survived by his wife, Veronica;
children, Joshua, Zachary, and Madison; grandchildren, Cheyanne and
Chayse, and numerous other beloved family members and friends, all of
whom will sincerely miss him; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Joseph Trevor Fletcher leaves behind a legacy which will
long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory
to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Joseph Trevor Fletcher, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Joseph Trevor Fletcher.
