COMMENDING the Women Empowerment Ministry upon the
occasion of hosting its Free Senior Luncheon on July
20, 2023

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Women Empowerment Ministry upon the occasion of hosting its
Free Senior Luncheon on Thursday, July 20, 2023; and

WHEREAS, The theme for this year's Free Senior Luncheon is "No
Senior Left Behind"; and

WHEREAS, The Women Empowerment Ministry is an organization created
10 years ago by Winnifred Grant, with the purpose to inspire women to
become more productive members of their communities; and

WHEREAS, The mission of the Women Empowerment Ministry is to empower
women through positive and social changes to help them achieve immediate
and lasting goals in their lives; and

WHEREAS, For the past four years, the Women Empowerment Ministry has
been feeding senior citizens of New York State in and around Flatbush
communities; and

WHEREAS, In addition, the Women Empowerment Ministry has donated
items of clothing to women's shelters, donated prom dresses to the
Westinghouse Vocational High School, encouraged women to be business
owners, given gifts to women during Women's History Month, and
acknowledged black business owners during Black History Month; and

WHEREAS, The Women Empowerment Ministry has worked alongside
Community Concerns Network to organize immigration seminars and
workshops; and

WHEREAS, To keep members involved, the Women Empowerment Ministry
features community events like their annual trip for prayers at the
White House; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Women Empowerment Ministry is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its leadership and its members, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the institution and the
community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proudly moved to honor and commend
the members of the Women Empowerment Ministry, past and present, who

have labored so conscientiously to secure and improve the quality of
life for the community it serves; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Women Empowerment Ministry upon the occasion of hosting its
Free Senior Luncheon on July 20, 2023; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Women Empowerment Ministry.
