CONGRATULATING Paul Amoroso upon the occasion of
winning a Gold Medal in Bocce at the 2022 Special
Olympic USA Games

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay just tribute to those citizens who embody the true American spirit,
demonstrating personal courage and conviction in pursuit of athletic
achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Paul Amoroso upon the occasion of winning a Gold Medal in
Bocce at the 2022 Special Olympic USA Games which were held June 5-12,
2022, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida; and

WHEREAS, Local Olympian Paul Amoroso, 48, returned home a champion
of the Bocce Ball section of the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games which
featured a wide variety of more than 300 athletes, including those from
the islands, competing in Bocce singles, doubles and unified
competitions; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Rome, New York, Paul Amoroso captured a
bronze medal in singles, a gold medal in doubles, and a bronze medal in
the team event; and

WHEREAS, Paul Amoroso has experience with bocce at a high level,
competing in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Ireland in 2003;
and

WHEREAS, In addition to Bocce, Paul Amoroso enjoys golfing,
swimming, track and field, and bowling; in the past he has also
participated in equestrian, cross country skiing and basketball; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by Paul Amoroso is due in
great part to the efforts of his coaches, skilled and inspirational
tutors, respected for their ability to develop potential into
excellence; and

WHEREAS, A determined, strong and dedicated athlete, Paul Amoroso's
drive to work, learn and improve his skills no matter what are truly
unmatched; and

WHEREAS, Through sports, Paul Amoroso developed the talent and
confidence to become a national champion; and

WHEREAS, Overcoming much adversity, Paul Amoroso's positive attitude
and tireless dedication has inspired countless others to reach their
highest potential; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
applaud the achievements of its citizens who would elect to challenge
life with an uncommon spirit and determination, demonstrating by example

and purposeful action that commitment to personal goals is the
wellspring of self-fulfillment and triumph; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Paul Amoroso upon the occasion of winning a Gold Medal in
Bocce at the 2022 Special Olympic USA Games; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Paul Amoroso.
