COMMENDING WyQuasia C. King-Thomas upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of
New York at its Celebration of Women Luncheon

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, WyQuasia C. King-Thomas has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend WyQuasia
C. King-Thomas upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of New York
to be recognized at its Celebration of Women Luncheon on Saturday, March
25, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Each year New York State officially sets aside time to
recognize the unique contributions that New York women have made to New
York State and beyond; and

WHEREAS, WyQuasia C. King-Thomas has been called upon to contribute
her time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, WyQuasia C. King-Thomas was born on January 9, 1990, in
Peekskill, New York, to Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. King Jr.; and

WHEREAS, With a passion for fashion and a Bachelor's degree in
Business Administration from Berkeley College, WyQuasia C. King-Thomas
founded the Fashion Club and Modeling Troupe where she served two terms
as President; and

WHEREAS, WyQuasia C. King-Thomas began her illustrious career in the
corporate fashion industry as a buyer for DressBarn Inc. before taking
on her role with Macy's where she has remained for the past 10 years,
curating all day dresses for 450 Macy's locations and macys.com; and

WHEREAS, In 2016, WyQuasia C. King-Thomas founded Class With Capri
Events, Inc., an event planning and design company based in Westchester,
New York; she is also very involved in her family-owned businesses and
works as the Assistant Director of Little Kings and Queens Learning
Center as well as the Event Operations Manager of Little Kings and
Queens Entertainment Inc.; and

WHEREAS, In 2021, WyQuasia C. King-Thomas became a pioneer with her
creation of the Macy's x Kasper Divine Nine Sorority Collection, a dress
and suit collection representative of the various historically Black
Greek letter sororities exclusive to Macy's, and was featured in
business segments from The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Networks and

countless other publications like Ebony Magazine, Yahoo News, BET and
many more; and

WHEREAS, Holding many titles in various fraternal organizations,
WyQuasia C. King-Thomas is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority
Incorporated and currently serves as the Parliamentarian of Gamma Xi
Zeta Chapter in Westchester County; she is a Past Matron of Ruth Chapter
No. 8, and currently serving as District Deputy Grand Matron of Eureka
Grand Chapter, Prince Hall Order Eastern Star Incorporated, State of New
York, and Past Grand Queen of Emmett J. Avery Grand Court Ladies of The
Circle of Perfection; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, she is a Past Illustrious Commandress of
Elejmal Court No. 171, Imperial Court Daughters, as well as Royal Lady
of Magdalene Court No. 12, Order of Cyrene; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, WyQuasia C. King-Thomas is an advocate of charity and serves
as a mentor to other young women and aspiring business professionals;
she is a member of the NAACP as well as a certified member of the
National Association of Parliamentarians; she received her first board
appointment to the Board of Directors for Ferrara Management Group Inc.,
in 2023; and

WHEREAS, WyQuasia C. King-Thomas has been the proud recipient of
countless awards and accolades for her achievements and dedication to
her local community, and she is a graduate of the McKinsey Leadership
Accelerator Program, a development experience for the next generation of
business leaders; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Peekskill, New York, WyQuasia C. King-Thomas
is a woman of indomitable faith and a member of Star of Bethlehem
Baptist Church in Ossining; in her spare time she enjoys traveling,
shopping, participating in community events, and fine dining; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her loving husband, Kenneth
Thomas, who feels privileged to be a part of her life and rejoices in
her many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which WyQuasia C. King-Thomas has
displayed throughout her life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor WyQuasia C. King-Thomas upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of
New York at its Celebration of Women Luncheon; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to WyQuasia C. King-Thomas.
