HONORING Eileen Kilcullen upon the occasion of her
induction into the New York State Athletic
Administration Association Hall of Fame
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Kilcullen has given not only of her time and
energies, but also of her competence, intelligence, and leadership, and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Eileen
Kilcullen upon the occasion of her induction into the New York State
Athletic Administration Association Hall of Fame on Wednesday, March 15,
2023, at the organization's annual conference in Saratoga Springs, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Kilcullen has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her service, a period of
constructive involvement, Eileen Kilcullen has stood constant in
dignity, good grace, and has undoubtedly served as a role model to all
those in her community; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Kilcullen earned a bachelor's degree in Physical
Education from SUNY Cortland in 1987, and in 1990, she earned a master's
degree from SUNY Brockport in Educational Administration; and
WHEREAS, With the idea of pursuing physical education since the
fourth grade, Eileen Kilcullen began fulfilling her goals by working at
Canaseraga Central School in Allegany County, where she was a K-12
physical education teacher; during her time there, she coached soccer,
basketball, and softball; and
WHEREAS, In 1994, Eileen Kilcullen accepted the position of Athletic
Director at the Franklin Academy in Malone, New York; making a profound
impact during her tenure, she helped to start the girls varsity hockey
program, as well as both boys and girls varsity bowling teams; and
WHEREAS, In 2003, she aided in a major construction project that
both greatly increased the size of the school and equipped it with brand
new athletic facilities, including a track and a weight room; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the Section 10 Sportsmanship Committee,
Eileen Kilcullen served as a chairperson of Section 10 boys swimming,
and was the Chapter 10 representative of the New York State Athletic
Administrators Association for 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Franklin Academy's gym/pool complex was named the Eileen
Kilcullen Sports Facility to honor her lasting impact on the school and
community which she so unwaveringly served; and
WHEREAS, In her retirement, Eileen Kilcullen enjoys spending winter
seasons in Florida, playing golf year-round and working on her
pickleball skills; this new era of her illustrious life includes
thinking back fondly on all the memories she made with her cherished
students and coworkers throughout her career, reflecting with joy,
pride, and the utmost sense of fulfillment; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Eileen Kilcullen has
displayed throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eileen Kilcullen upon the occasion of her induction into the New
York State Athletic Administration Association Hall of Fame; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Eileen Kilcullen.
