Senate Resolution No. 806

CELEBRATING the life and accomplishments of John
P. Kilbride, veteran, police officer and devoted
member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
courageous individuals who dedicated their purposeful lives and careers
to serve and protect; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of John "Jack" P. Kilbride of
Levittown, New York, who died on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the age
of 73; and

WHEREAS, John P. Kilbride proudly served his country as a member of
the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War; upon his
discharge, he was a police officer with the Freeport Police Department
for many years; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents, Agnes and John P. Kilbride, and
two sisters, Margaret (Ray) Shelton and Patricia (George) Davis, John P.
Kilbride is survived by his wife, the former Virginia Robson; one son,
Michael (Jodi) Kilbride; two daughters, Kelly (James) Gaspari and
Kristin (William) Ciejka; 12 grandchildren, Jake, Ryan, Nicholas, Diana,
Michael, Gabrielle, Billy, Lauren, Jacklyn, John, Matthew, and Joseph;
one brother, Chuck (Sandi) Kilbride; two sisters, Mary (Russ) Caso and
Elizabeth Kilbride; numerous other relatives and friends, as well as a
legion of fellow police officers who will long cherish his memory; and

WHEREAS, John P. Kilbride truly lived his life with great dignity
and genuine grace, always demonstrating a deep and continuing concern
for the welfare of others in the great State of New York; he exemplified
what it truly means to give of himself in providing vital police
services in keeping with the noble mission of the Freeport Police
Department; and

WHEREAS, John P. Kilbride's life was a portrait of service, a legacy
which will long endure the passing of time, and will remain as a
comforting memory to all he served and befriended; and

WHEREAS, John P. Kilbride's name is synonymous with character,
dignity, intellect, depth and humor, qualities evident to his family and
to all those who were fortunate enough to have known him; he will be
deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life and accomplishments of John P. Kilbride, and to
express its deepest condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of John P. Kilbride.
