HONORING Lisbeth Fumagalli upon the occasion of
her retirement after 22 years of distinguished
service to the Town of Bedford, New York
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lisbeth Fumagalli upon the occasion of her retirement after 22 years of
distinguished service to the Town of Bedford, New York, on March 28,
2024; and
WHEREAS, For the past 22 years, Lisbeth "Boo" Fumagalli rendered
faithful, conscientious, and valuable service to the Town of Bedford,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Winning her first election in 2001 and being inaugurated on
January 1, 2002, Lisbeth Fumagalli went on to win every subsequent
re-election; and
WHEREAS, Lisbeth Fumagalli worked on a wide range of projects
including: the town website, insurance claims, the film ordinance,
cemeteries, and the installation of the new phone system; and
WHEREAS, One of her favorite duties that came with serving in this
official capacity as the Town of Bedford Clerk was performing marriages;
she was instrumental in having a New York State law passed to waive the
marriage license for active-duty military personnel; and
WHEREAS, Lisbeth Fumagalli diligently worked as the steward of the
town's records and implemented a new records center and record
management program to make this aspect of her job more efficient, easy,
and accurate; during her tenure, she worked to preserve the older town
documents and vital records such as meeting minutes for the Clerk's
Office and Tax Office; and
WHEREAS, A testament to her devotion to her career, Lisbeth
Fumagalli was President of the Westchester Clerks Association for many
years; she was also an officer of the New York State Clerks Association
and was recognized as both Town and District Clerk of the Year in 2014;
and
WHEREAS, Lisbeth Fumagalli was elected to the Katonah-Lewisboro
School Board and served as its President; she has a deep commitment to
community service and was also the President of the Katonah Elementary
School PTA, a member of the Katonah Village Improvement Society Board
for many years, and has served as an office and board member of the
Bedford Hills Neighborhood Association; she is also a volunteer at the
Community Center of Northern Westchester, the Katonah Memorial Park
Association, and is a member and one-time officer of the Bedford Hills
Lions Club; and
WHEREAS, A role model for women across this State and Nation,
Lisbeth Fumagalli was selected as a 2023 Women Innovator and is a member
of both the Bedford Hill Women's Club and the Katonah Women's Civic
Club; and
WHEREAS, In her retirement, Lisbeth Fumagalli will enjoy spending
time at the beach, either on Martha's Vineyard or on Long Beach Island
where she grew to love vacations in her grandmother's house in Beach
Haven, and can now be found in Harvey Cedars creating memories for her
granddaughter, Reagan; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as Town Clerk, Lisbeth Fumagalli served
with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Lisbeth Fumagalli was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with the Town of Bedford, Lisbeth
Fumagalli earned the admiration, esteem, and affection of her
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lisbeth Fumagalli upon the occasion of her retirement after 22
years of distinguished service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lisbeth Fumagalli.
