CELEBRATING the life of Duane Joseph,
distinguished citizen, and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in our community and have had a measurable positive
impact on the lives of its residents; Duane Joseph was one such
individual; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of Duane Joseph, noting the
significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, Duane Joseph of Brooklyn, New York, died on August 7, 2023;
and

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Duane Joseph who upheld the values of
community life and who, through their great actions, epitomized the best
of humanity; and

WHEREAS, Duane Joseph distinguished himself in his profession and by
his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and

WHEREAS, A dedicated member of Brooklyn Community Board 14, Duane
Joseph was passionate about the community, both its people and places;
he offered great vision and spearheaded the addition of Economic
Development to the organization's committee structure; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, he worked tirelessly to bring agency
information to community members and local insight to agency proposals;
and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Duane Joseph served to instill in others a willingness to
strive toward solutions; he became a Community Board 14 member in 2015,
serving as the Youth Committee Co-Chair, the Community Environment,
Cultural Affairs and Economic Development Co-Chair, as well as the
Co-Chair for the Flatbush African Burial Ground Task Force; and

WHEREAS, Duane Joseph was renowned for his detailed reports laced
with humor, and in 2023, he was elected as Community Board 14's First
Vice Chair; and

WHEREAS, Duane Joseph's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Duane Joseph displayed
throughout his life; and


WHEREAS, Duane Joseph's infinite selflessness and benevolence will
shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight and
strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to the
countless lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Duane Joseph leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all who
were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will be
deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life of Duane Joseph, and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Duane Joseph.
