CONGRATULATING Dylan Peter Hoey upon the occasion
of receiving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout,
the most prestigious of Scouting honors
WHEREAS, Through his diligence and rigorous efforts, Dylan Peter
Hoey has achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious rank, Eagle
Scout; he was confirmed and registered as an Eagle Scout on March 20,
2024; and
WHEREAS, Joining in 2017, Dylan Peter Hoey of Chappaqua, New York is
a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 1 in Katonah, New York; and
WHEREAS, As a testament to his work ethic, Dylan Peter Hoey advanced
to Senior Patrol Leader and took on more challenging duties and
responsibilities in his troop; and
WHEREAS, America has achieved its greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain its glory; and
WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America and its members are dedicated to the
development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, The highest achievement of leadership in Scouting, earned
by approximately five percent of all Boy Scouts, is the distinguished
rank of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young man has been involved in Scouting
for many years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all
the necessary achievements, including completion of a community service
project, which was successfully planned, developed, and executed; and
WHEREAS, For his project, Dylan Peter Hoey researched, surveyed,
designed, obtained permits for, and constructed two large field stone
masonry abutments and a 4 by 18 foot bridge above a stream and wetland
area at "Stepping Stones" in Katonah, New York; The Stepping Stones
Foundation's mission is to foster public understanding of alcoholism and
inspire recovery by preserving and sharing the historic home, archives,
and legacy of Bill and Lois Wilson, co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous
and Al-Anon Family Groups; and
WHEREAS, Through his efforts, Dylan Peter Hoey raised $7,500.00 for
the Service Project and an excess of $2,400.00 will be presented to The
Stepping Stones Foundation for use in future projects involving Scouts;
and
WHEREAS, Looking to the future, Dylan Peter Hoey will attend Norwich
University, Corps of Cadets, with an expected graduation year of 2028;
he will affiliate with the NROTC/U.S. Marines Corps Battalion and work
towards a minor in Leadership, with a goal to earn a commission in the
U.S. Marine Corps; and
WHEREAS, Dylan Peter Hoey is currently enrolled in the David
Crawford School of Engineering and is planning to pursue a Bachelor of
Science degree in Construction Management; he is the first in his family
to attend a military college as a student athlete; and
WHEREAS, His dedication to the safety and well-being of the citizens
of Katonah, New York is represented through his project and demonstrates
his devotion to both community and commitment to others; and
WHEREAS, Dylan Peter Hoey's perseverance in rising through the ranks
to Eagle Scout is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult
tasks; his accomplishment will enable him to emerge as a leader, fully
equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex society; and
WHEREAS, This new Eagle Scout is a credit to his family, his school,
his community, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor Dylan Peter Hoey on achieving the rank of Eagle
Scout; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dylan Peter Hoey.
