COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of the
building of the Castle Point Veterans Affairs
Medical Center on September 15, 2023
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
institutions which have faithfully served the health needs of the
community and its citizens with diligence and compassionate commitment;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the building of the Castle Point
Veterans Affairs Medical Center to be celebrated at an event on Friday,
September 15, 2023; and
WHEREAS, With the support of Hamilton Fish Sr. and numerous
residents of the State of New York, the Castle Point Veterans Affairs
(VA) Medical Center was built in 1923, as a place of hope for men and
women who suffered from tuberculosis; and
WHEREAS, Located on the banks of the Hudson River just 65 miles
north of New York City in the Village of Wappingers Falls, the Castle
Point VA Medical Center first opened its doors to the public in 1924,
and became a major employer for residents of the Hudson Valley; and
WHEREAS, Today, the Castle Point VA Medical Center has evolved from
its humble beginnings into a general hospital which delivers a wide
range of modern, progressive health care services such as intermediate
medicine, rehabilitation medicine and spinal cord injury care to the
meritorious veterans of the Hudson Valley; and
WHEREAS, The success of Castle Point VA Medical Center is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its leadership, board of directors and
staff, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Venerable and trustworthy institutions, tending to the
needs of the community and its citizenry, represent the threads from
which the fabric of society is woven; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to recognize the benevolent
good works of health care institutions, sharing the pride of its history
and accomplishments, and anticipating its future of continued growth in
quality and personalized care; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
extend congratulations and just tribute to Castle Point Veterans Affairs
Medical Center, commemorating its century of service and care on behalf
of the Hudson Valley community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Castle Point Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
