HONORING Technical Sergeant Thomas M. O'Connor
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Superintendent's Commendation Award by the New
York State Police on May 17, 2023

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sergeant
Thomas M. O'Connor upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Superintendent's Commendation Award by the New York State Police to
be celebrated at its 47th Annual Superintendent's Commendation and
Awards Day Ceremony on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the State Police
Academy in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, This prestigious award was established to honor outstanding
individuals, dedicated to their service to law enforcement, whose
valiant efforts protect the people of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Thomas M. O'Connor acted bravely in the line of
duty to rescue three small children from a dangerous barricaded man who
was holding them hostage and who had threatened to kill them; his
decisive and life-saving actions exemplify the finest traditions of New
York State Police; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Sergeant Thomas M. O'Connor
has displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Technical Sergeant Thomas M. O'Connor upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Superintendent's Commendation Award by
the New York State Police on May 17, 2023; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Technical Sergeant Thomas M. O'Connor.
