Assembly Resolution No. 683

        MOURNING  the  death  of  Augustine  Paul,  loving
        husband  and  father,  and  devoted  member  of  his
        community
 
  WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through  their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in our community, and have had a measurable positive
impact on the lives of  its  residents;  Augustine  Paul  was  one  such
individual; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  with  great  sorrow  and  deep  regret  that  this
Legislative Body records the  passing  of  Augustine  Paul,  noting  the
significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Augustine  Paul passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in
Kerala, India at the age of 74; and
 
  WHEREAS, Born in Kerala, India on December 26, 1948, Augustine  Paul
graduated  from  Delhi  University with a bachelor's degree in economics
and an LLB in Law; later, he worked for the British High Commission; and
 
  WHEREAS, After marrying his wife Aney in 1977,  they  moved  to  the
United States in 1984, where Augustine Paul worked at the New York State
Housing Finance Agency and at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Deeply involved in his community, Augustine Paul served as
an usher at St. Anthony Parish in Nanuet and was a member of the Knights
of Columbus, Nanuet Seniors Club,  St.  Anthony's  Senior  Club,  Nanuet
Civic Association, and Historical Society of Rockland; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Augustine  Paul  was  also  involved  in  several cultural
associations including the India Catholic Association of America, Hudson
Valley Malayalee Association, and FOKANA; and
 
  WHEREAS, Known for his kindness, Augustine Paul was dedicated to his
family and friends, and was instrumental in his  wife  Aney  becoming  a
Rockland County Legislator and her endeavors; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Augustine  Paul  is  survived by his wife, Rockland County
Legislative Vice Chair Dr. Aney Paul; his children, Dr. Marina and  John
Oraczewski,  Shabana  Paul  and  Brad  Keen,  and Natasha Paul; and many
siblings, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and
 
  WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a  sense  of
compassion, Augustine Paul leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the  passage  of  time  and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
mourn the death of Augustine Paul and to express its deepest condolences
to his family; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Augustine Paul.
