COMMEMORATING the Victory of the Six-Day War on
June 10, 2024
WHEREAS, The State of New York acknowledges the historical
significance and achievements of the Six-Day War that took place from
June 5-10, 1967; and
WHEREAS, This conflict involved the State of Israel defending itself
against neighboring countries, including Egypt, Jordan, and Syria; and
WHEREAS, The bravery, resilience, and dedication of the Israeli
Defense Forces (IDF) played a pivotal role in securing a decisive
victory for Israel, leading to significant territorial gains; and
WHEREAS, The State of Israel demonstrated its commitment to
self-defense and the protection of its citizens during the Six-Day War,
facing considerable challenges with courage and determination; and
WHEREAS, The outcomes of the Six-Day War have had a lasting impact
on the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East, shaping regional
dynamics and influencing international relations; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body recognizes the importance of
commemorating historical events that contribute to the security and
stability of nations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body commemorate and celebrate the
victory of the State of Israel in the Six-Day War, acknowledging the
courage and sacrifice of the Israeli Defense Forces and their role in
securing the safety and sovereignty of the State of Israel; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body honors the enduring friendship
and shared values between the State of Israel and the United States,
affirming the commitment to the principles of democracy, freedom, and
self-determination; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Consulate General of Israel in New York as a gesture
of solidarity and recognition of the historical significance of the
Six-Day War.
