HONORING Dr. Bindukumar Nair upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Community Pride
Award by the Council of Heritage and Arts of India,
Inc.

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Bindukumar Nair has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his skill, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Bindukumar Nair upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Community Pride Award by the Council of Heritage and Arts of India,
Inc., celebrated at its 3rd Annual Dinner Gala on Friday, December 8,
2023; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Nair was born in the southernmost state of India,
Kerala; he is a Scientist by profession with a Doctorate in Nuclear
Physics and Specialization in Cancer and HIV research, and has worked as
a Principal Scientist for a Biotech firm and has faculty appointments at
both the University at Buffalo and Roswell Park Cancer Institute; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to helping
others, Dr. Nair's legacy is engraved in his humble and selfless service
to the community, never seeking recognition or reward; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Nair has been a member of the Hindu Cultural Society of
Western New York since 2012, and was elected president in 2019 and 2020;
he is the Founding President of Kairali Buffalo, and served as General
Secretary of Kaveri Sangam through 2020; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to his community, Dr. Nair served as Project
Director of the charitable foundation You First Services (YFS),
sponsoring the schooling of disadvantaged girls in rural Rajasthan and
Uttar Pradesh; he has also been closely affiliated with several
religious and educational groups, including Chinmaya Mission Buffalo,
Sai Group, and Amma Satsang to name a few; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, he served as the General Secretary for the
India Association of Buffalo during 2015-16, when the first ever India
Mela was celebrated at Canalside; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. Nair has stood constant in
dignity, good grace, and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dr. Nair has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his beautiful wife, Priya, and
their wonderful children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Dr. Bindu Nair, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Bindukumar Nair upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Community Pride Award by the Council of Heritage and
Arts of India, Inc.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Bindukumar Nair.
