HONORING Daniel Weidenbaum upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2025 Citizenship
Advancement Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people, within this great Empire State, who
have made strong contributions to their communities and serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Daniel Weidenbaum, upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2025 Citizenship Advancement Award, to be recognized at a senior
scholarship ceremony at Sanford H. Calhoun High School on Wednesday, May
28, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Weidenbaum, committed to hard work, has achieved
excellence in academics, community service, and extracurricular
endeavors, justly earning this esteemed recognition; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Sanford H. Calhoun High School, Daniel
Weidenbaum's academic excellence is evident not only in his outstanding
GPA but also in his pursuit of rigorous coursework; he is a member of
the National, English, Math, and Spanish Honor Societies and is known
for the thoughtful insight he brings to classroom discussions; and

WHEREAS, Beyond academics, Daniel Weidenbaum is deeply involved in
school and community life; he contributes through Key Club, the Debate
Club, where he is a respected competitor, and the Jewish Student Union,
serving on its board; through Acing Autism, he teaches tennis to
children with special needs, and he has raised funds for Parkinson's
disease; he is also a dedicated musician in the symphonic band; and

WHEREAS, Athletically, Daniel Weidenbaum stands out on the varsity
tennis and basketball teams; despite a serious back injury in his
freshman year, he returned stronger and is now a top player and
sought-after tennis coach; his resilience, leadership, and commitment
define his legacy on and off the court; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Weidenbaum will be attending Binghamton University
and pursuing a degree in health science; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
respected scholar and distinguished member of his community now stands
honorably with just pride in his accomplishments and in eager
anticipation of all his future endeavors and limitless opportunities;
and

WHEREAS, It is of utmost importance to honor the youth of today, the
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Daniel Weidenbaum upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2025 Citizenship Advancement Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Daniel Weidenbaum.
